Description
The fairytale town of Telč, whose square with a castle, surrounded by three ponds, is famous far beyond the borders of the Czech Republic, is another city featured in the series of illustrated historical maps. In detail, we will introduce you to the Renaissance castle, originally a Gothic fortress, rebuilt by Zachariáš of Hradec. The square named after this local patron is home to many Renaissance and Baroque burgher houses, which are given significant attention in the map guide. However, we do not forget other important monuments – the churches of St. Spirit, St. Anne, the Name of Jesus, the Jesuit college and gymnasium, the city fortifications, or the fountains in the square. Interesting and engaging texts are illustrated with drawings by architect Staněk, who is also the author of the illustrated map, as well as many photographs and period reproductions.
