Description
The brilliant detective novel Beast takes place after significant social changes, specifically after the Velvet Revolution and the subsequent amnesty in 1990, after which many irredeemable criminals are released. Some take advantage of the fall of the Iron Curtain and leave the republic. A bloody trail follows one of them across half of Europe, but it returns home. The recidivist leaves behind massacred and abused bodies of women, but no fingerprints. However, a new method comes to the aid of the detectives - DNA analysis. The book's appeal is also enhanced by changes in narrative perspective, as we alternately follow the killer's actions, the Voice that compels him to kill, and the detectives' efforts to catch the beast in human form...
