A large number of plot-rich illustrations and a readable, entertaining, and comprehensible text are the main strengths of the book, which engagingly introduces young readers to our history. The main heroes, siblings Běla and Kuba, travel through ten historical periods using an ancient time machine in a museum and experience extraordinary adventures there. Readers follow their fates, for example, in the Stone Age, in a Přemyslid stronghold, during the reign of Charles IV, in a Renaissance castle, during Austria-Hungary, and under socialism. Each chapter contains a comic story with dialogues, supplemented by short descriptions and explanatory texts, tips for trips, and various puzzles and tasks. The author does not shy away from outlining the basic historical framework of the epochs but focuses more on everyday life - how people dressed, what they ate, how they lived, etc. The book is intended for children of various age groups. Preschoolers can explore the pictures or talk with their parents about life in the past over the comic story. Younger schoolchildren can read the comic story themselves. As they grow a bit older, they will be able to study the entire book, including the accompanying texts filled with plenty of information.
