Description
From the series of adventurous and fantastical stories by Verne, this tale about the brave guardian of the Argentine lighthouse is one of the most plausible. Three men, Vasquez, Felipe, and Moriz, are left as guardians of a new lighthouse on the small State Island (Isla de los Estados) in the Atlantic Ocean, about two hundred kilometers northeast of Cape Horn, with the understanding that they will be replaced in three months. Unfortunately, the island has other inhabitants, a gang of pirates led by a man named Kongre, who have made the island a hideout for their plundered loot. The pirates murder Felipe and Moriz, seize the lighthouse, and Vasquez is forced to flee into the interior of the island. Soon, due to the lighthouse's malfunction, a ship wrecks near the island, from which only the chief helmsman, John Davis, survives. Vasquez makes a pact with him to take revenge on the pirates together...
