Krize svědomí – Prokopius Václav (2011)

The authors reflect on the bleak state of society and ponder its causes. They analyze various negative phenomena and human traits, such as cruelty, ruthlessness, malice, greed, envy, bullying, and others, contrasting these phenomena with humility, modesty, decency, and compassion. They point out the growing absence of conscience and a significant deviation from spiritual values. Through specific testimonies, they demonstrate what humans are capable of and how evil, due to the unprecedented development of society, is beginning to seriously threaten the very essence of life on this earth. The authors see the solution to the current bleak state in mutual communication, in asking questions and seeking answers, but above all in the ability to listen to each other and to respect one another. Unfortunately, many today lack these very abilities. The aim of this book is to contribute to reflection on the meaning and significance of our lives and to the realization of its value and uniqueness. Life is not a worthless commodity, but the most precious gift we have ever been given, and it should be understood as such.
