Description
The idea of publishing a book in Czech about the clash of two opinions, or rather concepts, represented by two prominent figures of contemporary Hungarian and international life, Viktor Orbán and George Soros, arose during a discussion with Ms. Mária Schmidt, a Hungarian historian, university educator, general director of the Institute of the 21st Century and the House of Terror Museum, and also the laureate of the St. Vojtěch Prize Pretium Sancti Adalberti for 2024. The ideological clash between these personalities is by no means just a Hungarian affair; on the contrary, it illustrates the conflict between two entirely different worldviews: all-encompassing multiculturalism, new so-called progressive values, set against the idea of a fully functional nation-state, traditional, time-tested values, and the European Christian civilizational roots. It is a conflict over the different nature of globalization, which is an objective process but can take various forms: not only the multicultural one, which lacks and suppresses its own identity, but also the form of voluntary mutual cooperation and coexistence of sovereign nation-states, which play a similar role in the global order as organs in the human body.
