Description
Miloš Zeman, a year and a half after leaving the Castle, wrote his last book at home in Lány. In it, he accounts for the highest constitutional office and a number of politicians he met during his presidency. He spares almost no one, not even himself... For the first time, he also openly addresses a number of "cases" that constantly appear around him in the public space. In the Presidential Office, Miloš Zeman clearly describes that although he was elected directly by the citizens twice, his competencies were defined by the constitution, which is tailored to parliamentary presidential elections. "The tension between these two boundaries creates a space within which the president operates. He can either lean towards the model of a compliant official, laying wreaths like Havel's signature machine, or refer to a higher legitimacy given by direct election and try to expand his field of competencies," explains the former president. He supplemented the book with a rich photo gallery and also his key speeches from his decade-long tenure at Prague Castle.
