Description
ZENTA was not just an ordinary ship, but in a way a milestone and a symbol of the Austro-Hungarian Navy, the same navy in which, alongside Austrians and Hungarians, many other inhabitants of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy served, including Czechs. On the contrary, there were extraordinarily many Czechs and Moravians in this navy, and they made their mark in history as conscientious sailors and experts in many important maritime fields. ZENTA is often referred to as the 'Czech naval disaster of World War I' because the highest number of Czechs perished during its sinking. However, the Austro-Hungarian Navy also consisted of many other ships, including the first submarines. There are many stories of courage and heroism, victories and defeats, and in the final phase, it serves as a unique memento of World War I, in which the Austro-Hungarian Navy intervened but did not succeed.
