The publication provides basic orientation in the field of tourism. It is primarily intended for high school students (especially for the field of hotel management and tourism), but also for those who wish to engage in business in this area. Many insights can also be utilized by participants in tourism. Initially, the basic concepts are explained, and in subsequent chapters, tourism is discussed from all important perspectives. The explanatory text is supplemented with practical examples, model situations from guiding activities, as well as references to sources providing additional insights – e.g., web addresses and numbers of basic legal norms. Knowledge checks are facilitated by questions and tasks integrated throughout the text and at the end of the chapters. In the fourth, updated edition, necessary data were adjusted in 2025 according to available statistics and the latest findings.
