Description
A story about a boy who spoke. There are books that soothe, while others go against the reader's grain – yet one cannot tear themselves away from them. One of these is another story from an experienced child psychotherapist, this time about a teenager named Kevin, who at the beginning of the novel escapes from people into an imaginary cage of tables and chairs. Under the table and shielded by chairs, he refuses to communicate, and no one knows how to handle him. His medical history is nowhere to be found, it is unclear what happened to him and who hurt him. The author gradually unravels the complex case of childhood anxiety that led to uncontrolled aggression in Kevin. Long-term therapy and an almost unbelievable level of empathy and pedagogical intuition lead to the slow and cumbersome healing of initially unmanageable Kevin, whom the other children nickname Beast.
