Description
The book deals with the personality and work of the sculptor and restorer, Deacon Karel Stádník. It analyzes not only his works in detail but also the motivations that led him to dedicate his entire life primarily to sacred art. Let us recall works such as the statue group of St. Agnes in Prague Cathedral, the Stations of the Cross in Olomouc Cathedral, the statue of St. Patrick for Glen Cove in the USA, the relief of St. Adalbert for Pope John Paul II, the unusual Stations of the Cross in Lhotka, or the restoration projects that made him famous abroad – the restoration of the altar of the Monogramist IP in the Church of Our Lady of Týn, the Braun sculptures in St. Clement's Church, or the Brokoff sculptures in St. Havl Church. Here, we find not only a detailed overview of his sculptural works with information on how they were created but also lists of restoration works including selected restoration reports, as well as overviews of exhibitions both in our country and abroad. The book contains a wealth of unique, previously unpublished textual and visual material.
