Description
This history workbook forms part of a nine-volume series of textbooks and workbooks for primary schools and multi-year grammar schools, covering historical development from prehistory to the end of the 1980s. The series presents the past in a lively, readable and partly fictionalised form populated by historical figures and enlivened with legends and myths, encouraging interest in history rather than offering only a lifeless succession of dates, names and events. The materials include illustrations by J. Petráček and D. Ježková, maps, timelines and distinctive graphic design. The instructional material is arranged in practical two-page spreads corresponding to individual lessons, and alongside major political events it also covers the spiritual culture of society and the realities of everyday life, including lesser-known areas often omitted from history textbooks. Key points to remember are highlighted on each spread. The four workbooks contain imaginative questions, tasks and tests, with each one devoted to a historical period: prehistory and antiquity, the Middle Ages, the early modern period, or modern history. This workbook covers the early modern period and forms a complete set with the corresponding textbook. The textbooks in the series received awards at the fourth Kroměříž COMENIANA Fair and in the Golden Ribbon competition.
