Description
This book tells the story of the significant Czechoslovak Tatra Around the World expedition, which took place from 1987 to 1990. The first third of the journey, covering Europe and North America, was published during the expedition. The account of the second part of the route—South America, Australia, Asia and Africa—is now being made available to readers in its original, unaltered form from 1990, preserving its documentary character, with contemporary additions. It also offers an extensive range of information, experiences, observations, memories, reflections and comparisons from the author’s life of travel from the 1950s to the present. Stanislav Synek, a nuclear physicist by profession as well as a translator and interpreter, is the only surviving participant in the entire expedition. He supplements the book with numerous additions and frames it with the experiences and knowledge he has gained through more than six decades of travelling in 165 countries across six continents. The contents are in Czech.
