Description
Care for patients with Alzheimer's disease and other cognitive disorders in the Czech Republic is fragmented and unevenly and insufficiently available in different regions. It involves neurologists, psychiatrists, geriatricians, and general practitioners. In 2021, the Government of the Czech Republic approved the National Action Plan for Alzheimer's Disease and similar conditions for the years 2020-2030 (NAPAN). The goal of its implementation is to create consensus interdisciplinary recommendations so that patients always receive good comprehensive care, regardless of which specialist they visit and in which region.
The publication reflects two main strategic objectives: to unify diagnostic and therapeutic approaches so that a minimum for clinical practice is defined across individual specialties, and to propose the permeability of the system by defining the roles of individual interested specialties. The clinical recommendations are based on the analysis of international guidelines, respect the specific conditions of health and social care in the Czech Republic, and were created with the consent, support, and mandate of the committees of the relevant professional societies.
