Akutní infarkt myokardu – Mates Martin (2023)

Heart and vascular diseases have long been the most common cause of death in economically developed countries, including the Czech Republic. Among cardiovascular diseases, ischemic heart disease (IHD) has the highest prevalence, and its most severe and feared form is acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Interventional treatment of infarction has achieved significant successes; however, mortality from AMI remains high even with the use of modern diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. It is therefore entirely justified that considerable resources have been invested in recent years into researching the pathogenesis of AMI and developing new therapeutic options. For this reason, the diagnosis and treatment of AMI represent a rapidly evolving area of contemporary evidence-based medicine. The second edition of this publication is a brief overview of today's knowledge about the pathogenesis of AMI and recommended procedures for its diagnosis and treatment, and is therefore intended for doctors and other healthcare professionals who encounter challenging situations in the care of patients with AMI.
