The inhalation route for administering medications to patients with chronic bronchial obstruction (CBO), which includes bronchial asthma (asthma), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and asthma-COPD overlap syndrome (ACOS), is the first-line method. Inhaled medications act directly in the airways, where they achieve higher concentrations compared to oral administration, with significantly lower risks of side effects and a faster onset of action for rescue medications. It is necessary to individually select the medication (molecule or combination of molecules – dual or triple combinations), the inhalation system (IS), and the dosing regimen (administering once or twice daily) for each patient. Inhaled medications are available in various IS, which have different characteristics and inhalation techniques. Incorrect inhalation technique generates critical errors and leads to treatment failure, resulting in loss of disease control. Both the first and second editions of this book have been very successful among pulmonologists and doctors from other specialties.
