Description
So-called triple-negative breast cancers (TNBC) represent a morphologically and genetically heterogeneous group of breast carcinomas, differing from other subtypes by a high degree of genetic instability, aggressive biological behavior, shorter periods without progression or relapse of the disease, and a specific response to treatment. They are more commonly diagnosed in younger patients, often simultaneously with a proven germline mutation in the BRCA1/BRCA2 genes. The current trend, given the increased frequency of primary and secondary resistance to chemotherapy, is to search for new therapeutically targetable molecules that could significantly enhance the effectiveness of administered neoadjuvant chemotherapy and thus help reduce the risk of tumor metastasis or disease recurrence after treatment. The book is primarily intended for oncologists but will also be useful for doctors of other specialties who care for oncology patients.
