Ve Freudových stopách – Ritterová Zuzana (2021)

The publication offers a psychoanalytic and psychotherapeutic perspective on common life events. The author primarily draws theoretically from classical Freud's drive theory. She attempts to illustrate the fundamental building blocks of psychoanalysis (such as the Oedipus complex) using simple and universally understandable metaphors. She reflects on stories from her own life and assumes that the reader can understand their own life in this way. To avoid being just a dry theory, the book is written in an entertaining manner, and the author is not afraid to make fun of herself. The first chapter is dedicated to the pre-Oedipal period, the second and third to the relationship with the father – i.e., the Oedipus complex, and the following chapters address dream work and coping with traumatic experiences. In the subsequent chapters, the author advises on how to manage aggression, narcissistic impulses, and how to utilize psychosomatics, lightly touching on addictions as well. In the final chapter, she contemplates how it is possible to achieve a positive psychological change. The publication is intended for psychologists, students, and also laypeople interested in psychology.
