Intenzivní medicína v praxi – group of authors (2020)

The monograph provides a comprehensive overview of the essential knowledge of intensive medicine. It offers a systematic approach to all the individual topics that the authors consider integral parts of a comprehensive education for intensivists. In the first, general section, the authors focus on key processes and skills that are part of everyday work in the intensive care unit, from recognizing a critically ill patient to the moment the patient leaves intensive care. The second section addresses specific situations related to particular nosological units, such as patients with ARDS, sepsis, and organ failure. The third, supplementary section presents practical guides and tables aimed at helping navigate the often intricate patterns and specific values that are, however, a daily necessity when working with these patients. Each chapter explains the basic pathophysiology of a specific condition and combines it with current knowledge available in this field from the perspective of evidence-based medicine (EBM).
