Kazuistiky z neonatologie – Dokoupilová Milena (2020)

With the establishment of the Czech Neonatology Society in 1990, neonatology has been recognized as a specialized field of pediatrics focused on the care of both healthy and pathological newborns in the Czech Republic. Over the past 30 years, thanks to a better understanding of pathophysiological processes, technological advancements, improved quality of intensive care, treatment, and nursing practices, there has been a significant improvement in neonatal mortality and morbidity. We can be proud of these indicators, which have remained at the forefront globally for the last 10 years. Unfortunately, not every child is born healthy or on time. The spectrum of neonatal diseases is very broad, encompassing both common and very rare conditions, diseases related to prematurity, congenital developmental defects, infections, hypoxic injuries, and various types of hereditary metabolic disorders. To raise awareness in this field, Dr. Milena Dokoupilová has been organizing annual professional conferences titled "Days of Neonatal Case Studies" since 2016, which address a wide range of issues concerning newborns from the 30th week of pregnancy.
