This untraditionally conceived monograph does not aspire to be an exhaustive textbook on malignant blood diseases or a detailed description of individual blood disorders. The authors' goal was not to paraphrase existing educational texts, but to emphasize the symptoms of blood diseases, to show how to move from these symptoms to the diagnosis of the disease, and what complicates this process for doctors. Although we do not encounter these serious diseases very often, many of them can be very well treated with timely diagnosis, and some can be completely cured. However, it still often happens that patients with blood diseases are incorrectly treated for several months even with a typical clinical picture of these diseases. The book is based on the authors' experiences and daily interactions with their patients – through specific examples, they show that reality is often more thrilling than the most ingenious horror or thriller film. Therefore, the chapters dedicated to individual diseases are supplemented with real stories of these patients.
