Description
Imaging methods, namely radiodiagnostics, are essential aids in the rapid diagnosis of lung diseases, and every physician should have at least a basic knowledge of radiological imaging of the chest. Pneumologists, as specialists dealing with lung diseases both diagnostically and therapeutically, should be equipped with much more detailed knowledge. This does not change the fact that both pneumologists and radiologists contribute to the precise diagnosis of the chest. The basis of radiodiagnostic imaging of the chest, which is usually quick and widely available, is a simple chest skiagram, which should ideally be performed in two projections: anteroposterior and lateral. A skiagram is not always sufficient, especially in the diagnosis of tumors and diffuse lung processes, where we often need to rely on computed tomography of the chest or magnetic resonance imaging, which provide significantly better resolution of the characteristics, location, and extent of lesions. An extraordinary publication that has been missing from the Czech market for some time. MUDr. Jaroslav Polák, DrSc., is a pioneer of Czech radiodiagnostics of the lungs, and Prof. MUDr. Martina Vašáková, Ph.D., is currently the most influential Czech expert in the field of pneumology.
