Description
The second edition of the book will once again take us on a long journey to Little Tibet. There, in the Himalayas, lies a world quite different for us, Central Europeans. But perhaps sometimes we have overly idealistic notions about how monks and ordinary people live there. Life is changing rapidly. Where there was once no dusty road, dozens of cars now flow along a new highway. Next to clay houses, concrete buildings are rising. This book contains many stories; some recount the past of Little Tibet, others describe the current fates of its people, and finally, there are wishes and visions for the future. What will Little Tibet be like, what do its inhabitants want it to be, and what are they afraid of? Together, the texts, stories, and comments form a kind of collage that could reveal, in new contexts, the real, contemporary life of people in the Ladakh region, sometimes also called Little Tibet, and the tradition from which it draws.
