Menopausal medicine is a borderline field that monitors changes in the female organism associated with estrogen deficiency and the possibilities for their prevention and treatment. Given the aging population, it is a branch of medicine necessary for maintaining quality of life. Following the success of the previous two editions, the author has prepared another, again expanded and updated edition. The book contains a brief overview of the basic issues of menopausal medicine - it introduces studies focusing on the effects of various treatment modalities on acute menopausal syndrome, urogenital atrophy, and osteoporosis as the main areas of estrogen deficiency manifestation, addresses the risks of therapy, and also deals with controversial topics such as the impact of hormone replacement therapy on the cardiovascular system, age-related eye diseases, colorectal cancer, as well as degenerative diseases of the nervous system and dementia. Special chapters are dedicated to individual hormone replacement therapy preparations, the group of STEARs, phytoestrogens, and alternatives to hormone therapy. The final chapter presents the points of contact of current global and our recommendations for procedures in menopausal medicine.
