Description
The publication "History of Urological Departments in the Czech Republic," released by Maxdorf in December 2018, is a somewhat unusual monograph – it was prepared by the Czech Urological Society of the Czech Medical Society J.E. Purkyně (editor Prof. T. Hanuš). The publication primarily maps contemporary urology but also provides insights into history, such as urology at the Prague Medical Faculty during the time of Master Albík from Uničov or Křišťan from Prachatice. It informs about the development of the field of urology after World War II, when it became independent from surgery, and recalls the objective "merits" of well-known figures in Czech medicine, such as Prof. Bedrna, Prof. Klika, Prof. Neuwirt, Prof. Uhlíř, Prof. Kostlivý, Prof. Hradec, Prof. Kučera, Prof. Niederle, and other significant heads of departments from various regions of the Czech Republic. The publication was created based on written and visual information gathered over two years from current heads of more than forty state and private urological departments in Bohemia and Moravia. Therefore, on nearly 430 pages (including a detailed index), the information predominantly comes from the present or recent past. The data is organized geographically by individual regions in the Czech Republic. Attractive color...
