Description
The aim of this professional publication is to familiarize readers with selected aspects of patient care at the end of life. The book is intended for doctors, nurses, other healthcare professionals, psychologists, and social workers who care for terminally ill patients in an institutional setting as part of a multidisciplinary team. The book is thematically divided into two parts. In the first part, the reader will become acquainted with the terminological definition and historical development of care for the terminally ill, including significant pioneering figures in this field. The second part specifically focuses on death anxiety, dignity, social support in an institutional environment, and spiritual support in contemporary secular society, making it quite unique in Czech healthcare literature. An additional benefit for readers is that the book creates a platform for further professional discussion on optimal interventions in institutional care for patients at the end of life.
