Until the beginning of the new millennium, sexual function disorders in both men and women with diabetes were rather overlooked issues. In recent years, a number of diseases, medications, and situations contributing to erectile dysfunction have become known. In addition to psychological disorders (depression, psychosis, anxiety states, etc.), there are also vascular diseases (peripheral vascular diseases and hypertension), neurological diseases (peripheral neuropathy, stroke, and others), habits (smoking, alcohol), and not least metabolic diseases, with diabetes mellitus being the foremost, followed by thyroid dysfunction, hyperlipidemia, and diseases of the kidneys and liver. However, when we talk about reproductive function disorders in patients with diabetes, it is by no means only about sexual dysfunctions. Diabetic patients face a number of other complications and risks related to the entire complex of organs and tissues associated with reproductive functions due to their illness. The aim and purpose of this book is to remind readers of other possible unconventional complications of diabetes that are rarely discussed.
