Vascular diseases are among the leading causes of death and work incapacity. They increasingly affect individuals of working age, and their early stages – often still reversible – are easily overlooked. There is an abundance of information about vascular diseases for the general public today; however, a significant problem is their lack of clarity on one hand and their inaccuracy and unreliability on the other. The author of the upcoming book, MUDr. Vladimír Čížek, an experienced expert in angiolog, has attempted to guide laypeople (patients and healthy individuals) through the jungle of the most common vascular diseases in an understandable language. He proceeds clearly and systematically from symptoms, through examination methods, to treatment options. The book is divided into diseases of veins (including varicose veins, vein inflammations, and thrombosis), arteries (afflictions according to individual organs, from strokes to leg pain, erectile dysfunction, and vascular issues in the chest or abdomen), and diseases of lymphatic vessels (lymphedema). The author adds valuable experiences and advice from his long practice. The publication is supplemented with numerous images, diagrams, and tables.
