Description
Minimally invasive surgeries represent an attractive alternative compared to traditional surgical approaches. For many years, there has been a trend to minimize surgical access in vascular surgery, which has been inspired by general surgery. In addition to classic laparoscopic techniques, we most often encounter endovascular treatment of abdominal and thoracic aortic aneurysms, and most recently, robot-assisted surgeries in the area of the abdominal aorta and pelvic arteries. Minimally invasive surgical procedures significantly reduce postoperative complications and allow patients to return to normal life sooner. Mini-laparotomy, hand or laparoscopically assisted procedures, fully laparoscopic or thoracoscopic procedures, and robot-assisted procedures are among the current options for minimally invasive approaches in vascular surgery.
