Description
There are things that cannot be expressed directly. They are so vivid and so fundamental that you have to walk around them. They are like electric wires; you cannot touch them directly, it is dangerous. That is why Jesus often speaks in parables. A parable is simple and complex at the same time. On the surface, it is a story; inside, a mystery. A parable is a distant echo of truth. If someone does not stop seeking the truth, they will find a thread in the parable. I use the word sutra. It is a Sanskrit word that means 'string, thread.' A parable offers you only a thread, a hint, a hidden clue. You have to search, then the parable will gradually reveal its treasure to you. It is not obvious on the surface. If you let yourself be deceived by the obvious, you will stop searching for what is hidden. What is apparent in a parable at first glance is not what it truly contains. A parable is a way to convey a truth of extraordinary importance in such a way that even a child feels they understand it. However, to discover the true meaning of a parable, you must have a deep understanding. A child may feel they have understood, and even a very mature person may feel that something is still eluding them.
