Začarovaná – Naxera Karel (2016)

The dominant theme of the book is the complicated love relationship between two young people – a doctor and a nurse – during the transformation of our healthcare system in the 1990s. The main plot takes place in Western Bohemia, primarily in the Tachov and Plzeň regions. The initially carefree doctor enjoys life, while the life-affected nurse struggles with severe depression. After several years of a stagnant relationship, the girl suddenly disappears. She stops going to work overnight and moves out of the hostel to an unknown location. The young man searches for her desperately, eventually reaching a psychologist with whom his beloved secretly sought treatment. The psychologist, from his position, does not want and cannot reveal anything. The doctor does not hesitate, breaks into his office, and steals the relevant tape recordings. He then analyzes them in detail. After the failure of standard procedures, the psychologist tries regression therapy with the girl. In a transcendental state, the patient describes several past lives, the most significant of which is the last one. Here, the tragic fate of a kulak family from Losiná near Plzeň in the 1950s is fulfilled. The subject identifies with the main heroine of this story.
