Jan Vavřinec Kozlovský was two generations older, of a slender build, hated weapons, yet had to shoot at people for part of his life. Václav Kadera, on the other hand, was very robust, loved everything that shoots, but could only aim at sparrows. Kozlovský became a miner against his will (as a prisoner), while Kadera chose this profession and worked underground until he no longer fit in the standard mine shaft. Both enjoyed reading and studying all possible mysteries between heaven and earth. They also had artistic inclinations. They engaged in painting and later enthusiastically began writing short stories. They differed in their relationships with the opposite sex. Kozlovský remained single because registered partnerships were still a thing of the future at that time. Kadera, on the other hand, went through one marriage and one long-term cohabitation with a woman. He also had two children whom he taught to shoot excellently. Perhaps the most important connection between them, however, was the dwarfs. Jan Vavřinec Kozlovský, just like Václav Kadera, had no doubt about their existence. Both came into contact with them.
