In contrast to the author's previous works, this one has a particular distinction. More than half of its content is focused on three significant periods of our modern history, represented by three notable figures: Emil Hácha, Rudolf Slánský, and Alexander Dubček. This is no coincidence. The mentioned names are connected by a similarly tragic fate, and they were all servants, architects, and victims of the politics that has profoundly impacted our nation. And since the fateful nature of these relatively recent events is still very much alive, it is certainly worth recalling them and seeking lessons for the present and the future. For this reason, the author has devoted extraordinary attention to them and has integrated these figures into the reality of the historical narrative without the admixture of half-truths and myths that have accompanied them until recently and often still do. Another remarkable historical exploration by the author is directed towards the greatest Czech woman in our history, Božena Němcová, who is also surrounded by a whole range of mythologized historical narratives. Her tragic fate is depicted against the backdrop of an unsuccessful marriage that ultimately became a hell of hopelessness for her.
