Description
The history of every nation has its own myths and firmly established historical traditions, which over time become an important part of its cultural heritage and are either developed by subsequent generations or are continually revisited by people. However, this can, with the passage of time, even lead to the creation of dubious myths and legends, in which historical reality is mixed with a strange mysterious overlay, intertwined with a multitude of opinions and interpretations. This also results in a number of half-truths and misconceptions, behind which historical truth hides in such a way that it becomes difficult to trace and separate the wheat from the chaff, so to speak. The result of such formed national traditions, originating from ancient legendry and historicizing 'mythology' of the nation, is an image of bygone ages that corresponds much more to our often romantic notions of historical truth than to the truth itself.
