Description

Between 1989 and 1992, several young backpackers disappeared without a trace on the highway between Melbourne and Sydney, venturing out to explore a foreign continent on their own. In 1993, seven mutilated corpses were found in the bush around Berrlanglo Forest, and detailed examinations revealed that the victims must have endured long and horrific suffering before their deaths. It soon became clear to the police from the special unit Task Force that they were dealing with a deranged serial killer. It was only by chance that the police were led to the perpetrator. Ivan Milat was arrested on May 22, 1994, and sentenced to life imprisonment two years later. The evidence against him was unequivocal, yet there remain certain doubts about his guilt.
