Why does the past keep changing, even though we understand it as something finished? Is there an end present in every beginning, and what does that imply? What is the non-identity of time? Is it possible to cultivate historiography as a science endowed with a 'sense of possibility,' as Robert Musil expressed in his book 'The Man Without Qualities'?
