Some time ago, Doctor Fingal Flahertie O'Reilly was alone in his practice in Ballybucklebo, but that is no longer the case. Not only does he have a reliable colleague, Barry Laverty, by his side, but he has also taken on a new assistant, Connor Nelson – and to make things truly lively at number one on Main Street, a spirited Labrador puppy is settling in there as well. Doctor O'Reilly now lives with his love, Kitty, and housekeeper Kinky has her Archie, but young Barry Laverty is still deciding whether he really wants to settle down and start a family with his fiancée, Sue.
