This new Chinese textbook aims to familiarize users with the basics of the Chinese language and Chinese character writing, the most significant phenomena in the history of China, and Chinese realities. It enables the user to actively master 90 Chinese characters, passively recognize the remaining 246 characters, acquire 544 words, learn simple phrases, and communicate in basic life situations. The complete set contains three volumes. The basic book provides the foundations of phonetics, teaches simple sentences, and introduces writing Chinese characters. The second volume includes a glossary for individual lessons, a reader with supplementary texts to the basic book, conversations, and summary glossaries. The third volume contains texts for individual lessons, a workbook, tables for pinyin transcription and Czech transcription, and character and vocabulary flashcards. The complete set includes rich visual material and three audio CDs. The textbook is intended for all those interested in studying Chinese, preferably under the guidance of an instructor.
