Description
The reader presents an overview of the works of the most famous Roman authors – Caesar, Sallust, Ovid, Livy, Cicero, Catullus, Horace, and others. Each author is introduced with a brief literary-historical profile and is further represented by several interesting excerpts from their works. The Latin text is accompanied by a guiding translation commentary, which includes information about the relationships of ancient culture to the present day. This publication, which loosely follows Latin for Gymnasiums, is intended not only for schools but also for the wider public interested in ancient culture – it provides younger readers with the opportunity to get to know the most famous and traditionally quoted and read authors and the most well-known passages from their works, while reminding the older generation, who still remember more intensive Latin education, of their student knowledge.
