Open Gates – Americká literatura 20. století – Čaňková Michaela (2008)

An unconventional textbook of contemporary American literature and cultural realities that encourages a creative approach to literary texts. It is brought up to the present day and includes novels, short stories, poetry, and dramatic works. It presents a clear selection of about 60 of the most interesting figures in modern American literature and culture. Each chapter also introduces the social atmosphere of a specific period and the cultural, historical, and political context. Literary excerpts are supplemented with examples of visual and musical works, maps, tables, and photographs to illustrate the atmosphere of the time.
