Description
Prof. František Malotín has always been a pioneer in the most progressive developments surrounding the flute in the Czech Republic. In the 1950s and 1960s, during a time when flute teaching was still presented according to the Czech adaptation of the old German school, he was the first and unwavering advocate for the use of the French flute model and tirelessly sought ways to bring the Czech flute school closer to the sound ideal of elite French flutists. František Malotín had the opportunity to verify his insights not only on himself but primarily on young beginner flutists, to whom he imparted a beautiful bright tone, a certain resonance especially in the lower tones, and a lightness of musical expression. The successes of his students in competitions – notably Concertino Praga – are undeniable. Malotín's method of teaching flute playing has proven to be correct and universally applicable over the years. Doc. Radomír Pivoda's work thoroughly addresses all necessary aspects of teaching, explaining breathing, tone production, and emphasizing the often-overlooked positive approach to playing. The work won 1st place in the Pedagogical Creativity competition in 1996. However, it has lost none of its quality even more than 20 years after its first publication.
