Od A do Z, slabikář pro 1. stupeň ZŠ praktické, 2. díl – Dvořáková Dana (2025)

This Czech-language textbook is the second part of a two-volume project for second-year pupils at practical primary schools. It follows the curriculum framework for educating pupils with mild intellectual disabilities. The first section reviews material from the first volume and introduces new three-syllable words such as “vesele.” The reader then develops reading skills by introducing all the remaining consonants, gradually improving the automatic reading of syllables and words. Pupils move from connected syllabification towards fluent reading of two-syllable and polysyllabic words, learning to read simple sentences and short thematic passages with understanding. Sentences initially appear on separate lines, but later extend across two lines so pupils become accustomed to sentences not always ending at the end of a line. Alongside learning new printed letters, pupils learn to read and write cursive letters. Cursive reading follows the Písanky for the second year of practical primary school and is introduced after the relevant letters have been practised in writing. The textbook also includes reading block capitals, particularly for pupils who find reading difficult, and is richly illustrated by Edita Plicková.
