Description
The professional publication Basics of Special Education Not Only for Social Educators is aimed at readers in the field of social pedagogy who are preparing for their profession in higher education. However, the target group is broader – readers who complement the theoretical knowledge with their own practical experiences will also find information here. The authors aimed to clearly divide the publication into ten chapters. The first chapter introduces special education as a field and places it in an interdisciplinary context to highlight the specifics of social and special education. This intersection is also reflected in subsequent chapters that focus specifically on different types of disabilities or working with individuals with special needs as discussed in special education. The last chapter concludes the explanatory section by defining the overlaps and interdisciplinary intersections that connect social and special education, thus giving both fields a broader dimension. The content of the chapters was designed to reflect the updated paradigm of special education and also to reflect the results of research activities that the authors have conducted in recent years.
