Description
A new novel by a writer and translator who has lived in France since 1968. It tells the story of a girl coming of age in Prague during the time of real socialism. Šarlota meets two young Frenchmen. From the balancing act of her romantic relationship with both men, a child is born, without the mother knowing who its true father is. In the second and third parts of the novel, the parallel fate of Russian actress Marina is depicted, who meets Šarlota in Parisian emigration. Here, both plot lines converge and culminate in an unexpected final twist. It also offers a new perspective on the 'theater of the world,' taking place in this case against the backdrop of modern European history. The book is accompanied by photographs by Petra Růžičková.
