This Czech-language workbook from the Zatracená čeština series focuses on word structure and related words. Through a sequence of exercises, children learn how to approach grammatical problems, including the spelling of i/y after paired consonants in the middle of words and in endings, how to identify word structure, and how to practise and reinforce these methods. The exercises are arranged in clearly differentiated learning steps so children can work independently. The workbook covers material that pupils need before studying words with i after paired consonants in third grade and spelling in the endings of nouns, adjectives and verbs in the fourth and fifth grades of primary school. It can be used on its own, although combining it with the series of Czech language textbooks for the first stage of primary school is recommended. The workbook is designed for individual work under adult supervision and aims to practise procedures step by step while also developing fine motor skills, spatial awareness and manual dexterity. In the first exercises, children learn to recognise related words by explaining their meanings; later they identify the root of a word using square grids and related words. The workbook also introduces prefixes and, in a later section, word endings.
