Description
Spa Echoes, the third part of the Spa Trilogy, whose first two parts Spa Adventures and Spa Hopes took place against the backdrop of the First and Second World Wars, narrates in a loose continuation the fates of the Viennese Czech Marie Klánská and her family, this time in the period from the 1950s to the 1970s. The tragedy and absurdity of the totalitarian regime lead the members of the distorted family to defiance, adaptability, and the necessary reconciliation with the transformations of thirty years filled with dramatic events. The author traditionally works with rarely authentic materials, through which the second half of the 20th century parades before us as sometimes comical, sometimes dramatic, even tragic, yet always a cautionary stage of our recent past.
