Description
Vlastimil Vavřín, who previously captivated readers with his novel Spaste naše duše, now presents a gripping novella set in the fictional Kotlinka. In the first part, he narrates the mischief of a group of small rascals, viewed through the eyes of an aging artist. Due to his striking appearance, black hair, penetrating gaze, and eccentric clothing, the children believe they have discovered a vampire. The second part finds the protagonists about ten years older. The children have grown into adults, reuniting in Kotlinka, which is surrounded by warring factions. The childhood adventures turn into a fight for survival. Each day is filled with violence, treachery, and abominations. Only the chosen ones thrive in Kotlinka. Yet, despite the fragility of human relationships in the daily wretchedness, the desire for friendship and love prevails. Despite all the wartime hardships, everyone tries to help each other. However, the haunting proximity of death changes all plans...
