Description
This volume of Jan Patočka’s collected works contains the complete text of the book for which he received the title Doctor of Sciences from the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences in 1964. The monograph places Aristotle within the development of the concept of movement, from the pre-Socratics to the emergence of modern science, when Galileo takes Aristotle’s place. It seeks to correct one-sided established views of Aristotle and shows that he can only be understood and interpreted as a thinker in constant development, who raises and develops problems without bringing them to a close. The volume also contains related materials from Patočka’s estate.
