New Year's speeches of Czechoslovak and Czech presidents, May Day slogans, texts from Rudé právo, journalism by Jaroslav Durych, Ladislav Jehlička, and Karel Čapek, Old Czech satires, fiction by 19th-century authors, regional newspapers from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, and dictionaries of slang. All of these are texts analyzed in the monograph 'Word and Text in Historical Context — Perspectives of Historical-Semantic Analysis of Language.' Its aim is to present new methodological approaches, distinct from traditional methods of historical semantics, which are suitable and applicable for historical-semantic analysis of language and textology. Through specific themes and probes that have a distinctly heuristic character, it suggests possible paths and approaches to language, text, and semantics in a historical context. The approach to historical-semantic analysis of language presented in the book offers a rich array of methods.
