Description
The Panorama of French Literature contains a chronological and systematically organized overview of literary development in France from its beginnings to the present day. It encompasses all literary genres, prose, poetry, and drama, offers portraits of individual writers, and introduces readers to their works, describing significant creative impulses, analyzing aesthetic doctrines, and characterizing the relevant periods. Alongside artistic literature, the development of literary criticism, historiography, and philosophical thought is also tracked. A special chapter deals with Francophone literature that emerged in the territories of former French colonies in Africa, America, and Asia. Extraordinary attention is paid to the last quarter-century in all areas of literary creation. It is published in two volumes, not for individual sale.
